Finally some TEETH!

So I have tried and tried all week long from the moment I discovered that Nate had finally cut his first tooth, to get a picture of him and the new found chomper, but no such luck! So instead of some pictures of the tooth, here are some sweet ones I managed to get during our many photo sessions this week. I cannot even believe that he is going to be one year old in just two weeks!!! Blake and I have had to keep reminding ourselves that just one year ago he wasn't even here yet! Nate had a bit of a rough week last week with a fever for the first part of the week. It was a little high to just be teething related, but I'm thinking that was a contributing factor. He is still such a happy baby. He's cruising everywhere and has started standing by himself not holding on to anything, but refuses to take that first step! We are in NO hurry :) We're just so glad that he actually does have teeth! His middle bottom on the left has cut through first and the other one is not far behind. I think we're about to start getting a new tooth every week as his gums look like they are ready for more to pop through. Now we are just so excited for that..... haha!

Hangin with the Roarks

We've been having lots of fun lately hanging out with the Roarks. Last Monday, Allison and I took the boys to the mall and Chic- Fil- A since it was steaming outside. The play place at the mall was jammed... usually it has like two other kids! The boys played on all the rides. Of course without us putting any money in them... at least they haven't gotten TOO smart yet! Then Thursday night our wonderful hubbies kept the kiddos and Allison and I went out for dinner, a little shopping, and some ice cream from Cold Stone. We sat outside and just talked for as long as we wanted. (or until the man came and put down the umbrella at the table we were sitting at because they were closing!) It was so fun. Then last night we all met at Goodberrys for an after dinner treat! Blake and Nick were there too, I just didn't get them in any pictures. Sorry guys! We had a great time and are so thankful for such wonderful friends.

We're Having a.....

Well..... we had our 20 week ultrasound this afternoon (which was actually our 21 week ultrasound OR 22 week ultrasound- more on that later) and we had decided we weren't going to find out the gender. And well..... we stood strong! I must say it was awfully tempting, but in the end the ultrasound tech didn't even know (good sign maybe?) and our doctor who just happened to be in the room for pretty much the whole ultrasound (that had never happened before) might be the only one who knows who sweet baby 4 really is! Of course he was joking and told Asher to be expecting a sister, brother, brother, sister! I really don't think he saw anything either!
The tech said the baby was breech and all hunched up, but was able to check out everything that she needed and everything looked perfect! What a blessing and answer to prayer. I decided just today that I wanted Asher to go since this would be the last opportunity he would have and he was SO excited! We did have to wait in the waiting room for 40 minutes before they called us back, but he made it without us killing him :) He wasn't too into watching the baby on the screen. Must have been the gummi life savers I brought along to keep him quiet! The one exciting piece of news was that they said the baby was measuring 22 weeks instead of 21 so I might be a week farther along than we thought! It actually makes more sense that I would be, as this baby's dates were definitely unknown to us and they actually told us we were pregnant like 10 days after we conceived! So being a week further adds up. And who doesn't want one less week of being prego at the end! Now we might be looking at the day before Thanksgiving for a due date, but hey... if it's out of the month of December I'll take it! All in all, it was a great appointment and so fun to see our little one all snuggled up and doing great!

This is a picture of Asher with our favorite doctor (Dr. Zimmerman). He was actually the one that delivered Asher back in the day! Ha... seems like forever ago and we never actually got Asher in a picture with him. Probably due to the crazy C-section we ended up having that was not planned! We just love Dr. Z and I thought it would be neat for Asher to get to meet the doctor that as Asher says "got me out of your tummy".
This was taken after my C- section with Asher in June of 2004. Blake was posing with Dr. Z since Asher was being detained in the hospital nursery (which they are standing in front of!) This was the best we could do for getting a picture of Asher with the doctor who delivered him. Funny that now they don't even take them to the nursery right away anymore, but do everything right in the delivery room! How times have changed!

Playing at E's

eating our PB & J's

Today we had some fun playtime over at the Roarks. These picures don't do it justice as the boys had a backyard pool party in Elijah's awesome little pool. (I'm serious, this pool has a little blow up water slide and spraying palm tree!) I'll have to get pictures of it another time. (Better yet, I'm sure Allison will have lots of pictures on her blog if you check that one....) Anyway we had a great time with Allison and her boys and Danielle and her girls. In the pictures you see four lunch plates and an empty spot because Bennett had just finished her lunch and gone back to the pool. The kids did great and the mommies even got some conversation in. Then after lunch Blake, Nick, and Daniel came by and brought us some yummy lunch. Thanks for having us and for such a fun morning!

Adios Pullups!

Well folks... we have officially graduated out of pullups at NIGHT TIME!!!!! In less than a month we have gone from pullups at only nap and night time to no pullups at all! Caleb has just done great with potty training and is staying dry pretty much all the time! When we started out on this venture I had no idea how it would go and didn't want to have expectations based on how it had gone with Asher a year and a half ago. Caleb definitely exceeded all my expectations (after a little bit of a rough beginning)! These were the very first and only bag of pullups I had to buy. And there is about half of the bag left! He gave up his pullups rather hesitantly tonight though because he LOVES the fact that they are "Lightning Pullups" and have pictures of Lightning on the front. Yes, we do have Lightning underwear, but somehow those aren't quite as good because all the big pictures are on the backs of his underwear where he can't see them whe he puts them on. Makes sense to me :) Anyway.... we are so glad to have only one in diapers. If only for a few months...

Look at us GROW!

Asher (4), Nate (11 mo.), Anna (4), John (4 mo.), Caleb (2 1/2), and Paul (1 1/2)
Okay so I know this is a lame attempt at a picture with all the kiddos, but it was the best we could do with what we had to work with!
(By the way... that is a shadow on Pauly's shorts... he did not have an accident! and Asher was recovering from the stomach flu and had just experienced a minor setback!)
(and Laura... don't kill me for posting this picture...you were a necessary addition!)

Anna and Nate hanging out Something must have been super funny!
"Are you sure I can't ride this bike?"
Caleb and Paul playing trains

My best friend Laura and her family were in town this past weekend (unfortunately it happened to be the same weekend of the "Ick" that took over our house) but we did manage to spend a little bit of time with everyone together the day they left. Of course Laura and I got out together alone (thanks Jay and Blake for watching the kids) and were able to just enjoy a conversation face to face vs. over the phone! Laura's family used to live in Raleigh and have only been gone for a little over two years, but SO much about our lives has changed... namely all the children we now have :) Anna and Asher were both born in 2004 (only 4 months apart) and were the best of friends while they lived here. They love getting to see each other and almost enjoy talking to each other on the phone as much as Laura and I do. They were even discussing their upcoming marriage today! Since Laura has been in Georgia we have had 4 more little boys between the two of us and both of us have been able to be there for each of their births. That's alot of miles back and forth between North Carolina and Georgia! We treasure the times we are able to spend together as they are few and far between these days. I love you sweet friend. Thanks for being such a wonderful blessing.

House of Sick

Well here we are "Home Sweet Home" and from the minute (almost!) we walked in the door, we have been battling the stomach flu. I suppose I should be very grateful that this didn't happen while we were at the beach, and I am. I really am! So in the midst of piles of beach laundry, bedding, and throw up laundry, Blake and I are trying to survive. Asher has it the worst as he is experiencing things from the North end while Caleb is battling things down under! So far Nate is fine.... we hope that will continue. Asher hasn't even been able to keep water or Gatorade down today. Please pray for our sanity, for Asher and Caleb to recover soon, and that no one else especially would get sick!

Beach Weekend

Last Thursday, Blake and I loaded up our boys and our favorite babysitter, Bailey and headed off for a couple days at Carolina Beach. We had a great time playing on the beach and swimming in the pool. Asher definitely thought the pool was the best part, while Caleb enjoyed the shells and making sand castles on the beach. Asher and Caleb were both a little skittish of the pool at first, but once they got used to it they were all about it. They were jumping in and cannon balling like pros. With inflatable rings and swimmies of course! It was Caleb and Nate's first time seeing the ocean and Asher hadn't been since he was one. "Going to the beach" takes on an entirely different look once you have kids.... from the amount of stuff you have to take with you, how long you can actually stay out on the beach because of the sun, how many times you get to :) reapply sunscreen x3 of course, to the sand cleanup of three little boys when you come in! Let's just say mom and dad were exhausted and extremely thankful for a third set of hands... you're the best, Bailey!
We enjoyed the sights and sounds of being at the beach on the fourth and experienced many different fireworks shows... all throughout the night! All in all it was a fun couple of days. We can't wait until our boys can really enjoy playing on the beach and all that entails. Thanks to our friends the Weekmans who blessed us with the use of their condo too! Stay tuned for post beach blues in our next post!
