Ear Trouble

Little Bug Man has been pretty sick this past week. He's had the cough/ cold mess for over 2 weeks now and last Monday night into Tuesday morning blessed us with waking up at 3am and just couldn't get comfortable enough to go back to sleep until around 5 or so (after throwing up his drink of water I might add). So off to the peds we went Tuesday morning. I was glad I took him because poor baby had double ear infections. They put him on an antibiotic (amoxicillin) but then Thursday and Friday he ran between a 101- 102 degree temperature all day. So we alternated motrin and tylenol for pretty much two days straight. This picture was one day around noon when he had been laying on our bed watching TV and the next thing we knew he was sound asleep.
We've still had some rough nights even though his fever seems to be gone, and he was up again last night and ended up "sleeping" in our bed with me. So this morning we called the pediatrician who called him in a prescription for a stronger antibiotic. We're hoping it does the trick!

Bunnies and Chicks

He is Risen!

We have some wonderful friends that were gracious enough to let us come out and take Easter pictures at their house using their bunny and chicks for props! We had such a fun time taking them! I decided it would be way easier and make for such better pictures if we did them on Saturday vs. Sunday either before or after church.... yup, you know how those would have turned out! It pretty much took all 5 Averettes to help get our crew smiling, looking the right direction, at the right someone, holding the chick or bunny right, etc, etc..... But they turned out SO cute!
Judah was a bit skittish when it came to the bunny.... chicks too.
The best (and safest place) we could figure out for Maddox to sit without one of the boys holding him.... it was hilarious to get him all positioned, take a few pictures, and then I would have to get ready to catch him as he ever so slowly slumped over to the side!
My friend Gretchen took some INCREDIBLE shots with her awesome camera and gave them to us on a CD! Now I am just trying to figure out how to be able to upload them to blogger from a CD..... so hopefully more will be coming soon!

Yellow Balloons...

April 20, 2011 was our second yellow balloon day. It's been two years since we lost someone so very special to me. I started this tradition last year with my boys. Each year on this day we will go get yellow balloons (one for each of us) and let them go in honor of her.

We watched them until we couldn't see them anymore and they were hidden in the clouds

When In Rome...

Asher's class celebrated the end of their unit on Rome with a Roman Banquet. Of course like all their other special days they got to dress up... this time in togas! I went up early that morning and helped them make cinnamon raisin rolls. We even cut them like they would have back then with thread (we used dental floss!) It worked awesome! I had to leave before they were done, but Ash assured me that they were delicious, although he said he picked out the raisins... takes after his mama in that!
This is his assistant teacher, Mrs. McCool. We looooooove her!

Maddox at 4 months

I can hardly believe sweet Mads is 4 months already... well technically 4 1/2! He is just the most easy going, laid back, chilled out little guy. I love it. I am constantly amazed at how content he is just hanging out. He is the first of my five that will just be content hanging out in his car seat.... either in the van or the stroller. Or sometimes even in the house! If he falls asleep in it, he usually just takes the rest of his nap in it. This NEVER happened with any of his brothers! Last Saturday I loaded him up and took him to the mall, just me and him for some "mommy shopping" if you will. He fell asleep not too long after we got there and continued to sleep while browsing through Belk, GAP (including trying on clothes in the fitting room), strolling through the mall, and didn't wake up until we were in the fitting room of the Loft! And even then he was happy and content just sucking on his paci! We even got a stop in at Barnes and Noble and Food Lion!
He is on a great schedule, nursing four times during the day... 7, 11, 3, and 7. Or pretty close to those times :) He goes down for the night between 8- 8:30 and sleeps until between 6:45- 7. Sometimes he will go a tad past 7. He takes 3 naps during the day, two that are around 1 1/2 hours and a 45 minute or so catnap in the late afternoon. We're still working on napping for the whole nap IN our crib.... usually prefers sleeping in mama's arms or his swing. He still LOVES his swing! Glad I'm getting some use out of that 'ole thing that we've had since Asher was a baby but not one of my other boys ever cared for! He can roll over both ways... as evidenced at his 4 month check up on the exam table, but doesn't really do it much when he's on the floor playing. We still swaddle him at night in his bundle me so he doesn't really have an opportunity to flip over at night.
He still looks exactly like Nate to me....really EXACTLY like Nate! Some pictures I have I really almost can't tell who's who! He loooooves his brothers and will light up whenever any of them talk to and play with him! He is such a loved baby and we are so thankful for him!
