Happy Days are Here Again!

Today marks an almost official vacation day in the Hickman house.... the first Alabama football game of the season! This year we played what was supposed to be an extremely good Clemson team and ended up having an incredible game which we won 34- 10! Roll Tide! I had to snap this picture of Blake and Asher during the beginning of the game. Blake almost always ends up standing for entire Alabama games (yes, even in our own living room!) Tonight Asher had to strike the same pose as Daddy while watching their beloved Tide! Like father, like son I guess! What happens when that picture has three little boys doing the same thing? Ahhhhhhh!

Nate's First Haircut

What picture wouldn't be complete without a little bit of drool!
A HUGE thank you to Mr. Nick's mom (aka Elijah and Hudson's Nana) for giving Nate his first big boy haircut. He was beginning to look quite shaggy so I loaded him up and took him over to hair salon 'de Roark! It was so much more of a relaxing experience than I had with either Asher or Caleb when they had their first haircuts! Nate did great and enjoyed his buddy Elijah's company, watching a DVD (Finding Nemo), and munching on some cheerios (thanks Mrs. Allison)! I think we'll have to visit more often when Nana Roark is in town!

Caleb's Babies

For those of you that know Caleb, or have spent any time around him lately, know that he has a "flock" of babies that are among his prized possessions! He usually picks one or two and carries them around with him wherever he goes for weeks on end. Then he retires them to his bed with the others. Some of his favorites are Baby Seal, Baby Dinosaur (who seems to be retired these days), and the all time fav.... Baby Raccoon! He is so hilarious with these animals and will do almost anything for them. Especially if they ask him in a sweet voice (as Blake loves to do!) If any of these babies turn up missing someday I don't know what we'll do!

Out with the old, and.....

In with the new!

old fridge!

We were blessed a couple weeks ago with a wonderful new refrigerator from some sweet friends of ours who were moving and not needing to take their refrigerator with them. Ours had been on it's last leg for some time now, ice maker had been broken for like three years, it was leaking water on the floor, I'm sure there were other things I'm forgetting or we just weren't aware of. Anyway, we were thrilled to get theirs which is almost brand new. The best part about it of course is the ice (crushed and cubed!) and water in the door. I'm even drinking more water now for my pregnant self. (Those of you that know me know that I am a terrible water drinker!) Thanks so much Rider Family! We LOVE it!

Natey Nate's Day!

Okay, so I know this post is long overdue and way too long, but since I've been procrastinating on getting this blog post up, I thought I'd share lots of pictures of our day. We loved having a low key day at home and a party with just family. We were really able to just enjoy our day and do things at our own pace! Nate was all smiles from the moment he woke up... I think he must have known he was the star! He loved his birthday balloons that were hanging on his chair when he woke up for breakfast and of course wanted to grab at the strings all day. I think the balloons are my favorite part of the boys' birthdays too as the mylar one that matches their birthday theme gets to stay tied to their chair for about a month after their birthday. (They really do stay up that long!) It is so hard to believe that it has been a year since Nate was born. It seems just like yesterday. He is such a joy and is always such a go with the flow kind of kid. He is really taking lots of steps and trying his hardest to keep up with his older brothers. He does NOT like to be left out. Good thing he's not going to be the baby of the family! We love you so much sweet Nate.
Nate and Mama
I thought this first birthday hat was SO cute and just had to get it for him.... of course we could barely get it on his head for a second to get his picture!
There's our second!
"Man, these pictures are wearing me out!"

Funfilled Weekend....

Lately I have had a hard time keeping Nate out of my drawer under the stove where all the clangy pans and lids are kept. Finally I have just stopped trying to keep him out and let him have some fun. So Asher joined in on the fun and together I think they pulled out everything in the drawer. It was quite a ruckus, but it kept them entertained. At least for a little while.....
The band in action!
After a quick dinner on Friday night we met Mr. Joel and Mrs. Gwen for some ice cream at mommy's favorite place these days, Cold Stone Creamery.
waiting ever so patiently for our ice cream
and.... in other news around here this weekend. Nate has been taking his first steps. I think we're up to five! We have a WALKER!
