Update on Potty Training

So here is the big boy all decked out in his underwear! Hooray! We've been at this potty thing a little over a week now and Caleb is really doing great. It was touch and go with some (shall we say "interesting") moments last week, but I think Thursday of last week he really got the hang of it and has pretty much been staying dry since. I have still been putting him in pullups for nap time and nighttime, but he is staying dry during his naps so we are about to start doing underwear for those too! Of course we do have to go to the potty many times during the day! All in all, he is doing great and I am so happy NOT to be changing his diapers anymore!!!

Indianapolis

Last week Amber and I went to Indianapolis on church related business. We were there for the Southern Baptist Convention and we had a blast. We went with Brian and Tabatha Frost who are a fellow pastor and pastor's wife with us at Providence. Our boys were well taken care of thanks to the Ferguson Family and Megan McCool. As an aside, if you ever get the chance to go to Indy you need to do it. It was a great city. Everything is within walking distance and it is the cleanest city I've ever been to. Enjoy the pictures.

Caleb's Last Night in Huggies

We are getting ready to launch (again!) into that wonderful world of potty training! Tomorrow Caleb will take the plunge and we will say goodbye to diapers! He's really excited about it... especially to get to wear his Thomas the Train big boy underwear! We'll see how much he likes them the first time he has an accident! Asher will be at Super Summer Adventure (our church's VBS) every morning this week, so Caleb and I will have lots of alone time to practice going to the potty. To all my dear friends, keep us in your prayers.....
We'll keep you posted!

Bath and Body at the OB's!

Okay, so I know some of you out there might be laughing at this post, but I really did feel like I had to share. I have learned that you have to delight in the simple things of life and this for me is one of them... Bath and Body foaming hand soap at my OB's office! I have been at the same practice for all four (can't believe I just wrote that!) pregnancies, but when I was pregnant with Nate and now for this one, they have had this soap in the bathroom. Instead of the yicky, smelly pink soap out of the dispenser. And for all my prego and past prego friends, you know that for alot of appointments the bathroom part is almost the longest part about the appointment! All that to say, I am loving all the different scents of soap at each and every one of my appointments!

Bye Bye Blanket!

Okay... so some of you may be wondering why I am posting a picture of Asher's blanket (one of many) and his favorite stuffed animal (Batman the dinosaur)? Really it is a VERY big deal because as of Tuesday, Asher's fourth birthday, blanket and dinosaur have been quarantined to Asher's bed. They are to live there forevermore... no car trips, watching shows, or coming with Asher wherever he goes! He can only have them for naptime and nighttime and if and when he feels like getting up on his bed to say hello to them. We are thrilled that he is not dragging his blanket around with him everywhere anymore! He has actually done great and hasn't even skipped a beat. On the morning of his birthday when I woke up and went into his room to tell him happy birthday, he popped up and said, "Mom, am I four now? Does that mean I have to keep my blanket on my bed now?" I think he's actually excited about this new realm to being a big boy! Hooray for this milestone!

Happy Birthday Asher!

We had a great day celebrating Asher's fourth birthday! I am convinced if you are going to have a birthday party, you need to have it on a different day than the actual birthday. We were just able to enjoy our day with the boys and not be rushing around, getting things ready, etc. I loved it! Blake came home at lunch and we took Asher out for lunch at his favorite restaurant, Red Robin. I think this is becoming quite the birthday tradition for him. We had someone (thanks Ashley!) come stay with Caleb and Nate, so it was just us and Asher. It was so fun just being able to concentrate on ONE!
Here is Asher enjoying his melon. He picked out his own side item, which happened to be melon. Even over french fries!
Enjoying his birthday sundae. He got the whole birthday song sung to him by the staff at Red Robin and it was funny to watch him sink lower and lower in his seat while they were singing!
(Remember the child who cried at his first birthday party while we were all singing to him!)

The big four year old (blanketless!) More to come on that later!

All decked out... where's the bike?Looking for treasure...

Aha! Found it!

After all, every good pirate needs a sword!

At last, the bike is found!

(more to come on THAT labor of love in another post!)

"Happy Birthday to you...."

Blowing out FOUR candles!
Make a wish... that was fun! When can we do it again?

Stomp Rocket!

What a fun present Asher got for his birthday from his best bud Anna! This thing is AWESOME and the boys are loving it! Well... truth be told, Blake and I are too! You jump on the purple box and it shoots air up into the rocket.... Blast Off!
See my rocket, Mom!

Asher's Fourth Birthday Party

On Saturday we packed up the pirates and matees and headed out to Jumpin Beans for a fun morning of playing. This was our first experience there and we had a BLAST! The boys loved jumping and sliding (and the parents did too!) It will definitely not be our last trip there! Then we came back to the house for some pizza, cupcakes, and good 'ole hunting for buried treasure! Arrrgh!

Time to Cookout!

We had a fun cookout with friends Friday night at Steve and Tina's house. They cooked out for all the youth staff, interns, etc. past and present :) We had a great time... chasing around after three boys :) I guess that's what parties consist of now! There were lots of other kids there though so Asher and Caleb were in heaven. And of course the trampoline was a main attraction for the boys!

Lydia preferred to take in all the action from afar!
Sherri, me, and Tina (with Tina's fabulous strawberry cake dessert)
Four Humphreys and Five (sort of) Hickmans
(Asher was upset about being pulled away from playing to take a picture!)
