The first graders at Grace Christian just got through studying about ancient Greece and ended this unit with their own version of the Olympic Games! It was so fun to watch them compete in their different events... they were SO proud! They had them in the gym last Thursday afternoon from 1:00 till the end of the school day. Some of their events were the long jump, chariot races (Asher was one of the horses in this event and unfortunately I was fiddling with Maddox and didn't get a picture... plus he was too fast!!), relay race, discus throw, marathon race, and probably some others that I'm forgetting.
This is one of the awards ceremonies.... love his sweet face smiling at us in the crowd!
All the first graders were divided into Spartans and Athenians... Spartans wore red and Athenians wore blue.... Asher and the little blond girl, Katie, in the middle are good buddies
Unfortunately the Athenians were lined up at the other end of the gym and we couldn't get great pictures of them (A is the third from the end)
The Olympians.... proudly marching in
(The little boy behind Asher is Billy. Billy is in Asher's class and is exactly what Blake and I think our Nate will look like when he's in first grade! Ha!)
